two thousand sixteen years ago a baby came into the world to save it from itself. looking forward with that mindset my new year’s resolution is to give God more glory. in every circumstance and in every timing of life God deserves more glory than anyone could ever even fathom. He has kept the earth spinning and the people moving and is building a kingdom of worship and glory for His people to dwell in forever. the reason why i am choosing this as my new year’s resolution is because i am determined that by giving God glory thus others will see the glory that we get to partake in on a daily basis. my goal is not to change hearts or minds but to display the beautiful glory of my amazing Father to those who may not know or love God, christianity, christians, jesus, or religion. my hope is that people will see the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control that living a heavenly minded life looks like. here is my current 2016 list of beautiful glories of God:
- new year welcomed with sweet dear friends
- 18 months of joy with evan
- coffee
- catlee
- mentors that change your life every time you see them
- jonah and his undeniable humanness
- hugs from my momma
- long nights at work
- rice cakes
- tea from david’s tea
- breakfast salad from eat chow
- surfing
- siblings that do heroic things
- my new bible
- my wonderful grandma
- apples, blackberries, strawberries, almonds, and cinnamon
- pajamas
- puppies
- kitties
- laughter
- sweet text messages from old and new friends
my new decision is to recognize God’s hand in my life in all ways; whether it be big or small. the only reason or purpose we have to breathe is that God so graciously gave us wretched sinners a beautiful second chance to love and live in His purposes.
in 1922 helen h lemmel wrote a beautiful hymn about this very mindset and the chorus reads:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
this is my prayer for 2016 for my life and for those who witness my life.
